Largest naval ship built in Canada in 20 years
the Asterix is the first large naval ship to be built in Canada in more than 20 years. the new
ship, built by Davie Shipbuilding at its shipyard in Levis, QC, made its debut on July 20, 2017.
Davie’s 1,369 staff together with more than 900 Canadian suppliers spent just under two
years delivering the resolve-Class naval support ship which will enter into service with the
royal Canadian Navy by the end of this year as initially planned.
the ship will be the largest naval platform in service with the royal Canadian Navy for the
foreseeable future and will provide a wide range of functions from at-sea replenishment of
fuels and cargo to aviation support, fleet medical support and humanitarian
and disaster relief.
ROBERTO NICOLI has been named managing
director of bystronic Canada. He has been
with the company since September 2014
as director of global key account management. He has
close to 20 years of executive management, leadership
and team development experience with global
organizations across a variety of industries. He has
experience in CNC machinery, automation, engineering,
production, and sales and service management.
JAMIE SCHELL has joined Autodesk DmG
CAm Amer product specialist sales team.
He will be responsible for the Greater
toronto Area and Northern Ontario. prior
to Autodesk, he spent 15 years as a job
shop machinist working on a variety of
machines from manual to six axis, mainly
in the aerospace sector. He worked for
Noranco for more than 11 years where he
most recently served as plant manager.
GISBERT LEDVON has joined Heidenhain
Corp. as the tNC business development
manager in North America. With over 20
years of extensive corporate industrial
machine business experience, Ledvon
assumed this new position earlier this
year and is responsible for growing the CNC control
side of the Heidenhain business in this region.
TIM CARON has joined emeC machine tools
as area sales manager for Windsor, ON,
and surrounding area. He has more than
20 years of experience in manufacturing
and most recently served as sales
engineer at Okuma. “We're plased to have
local representation in the Windsor corridor and look
forward to having tim on our team,” says tejal mehta,
vice president, operations at emeC machine tools.
